I was much more impressed with these desert states than I would've ever imagined. I never really understood how big and empty this country really is... So we shot a few more really great, really important scenes and we have even shot a few unwritten scenes as well. We got to shoot the pi scene which was awesome...at night...overlooking the city. Totally fantastic. We're getting really close to Vegas which is gonna rock. Good ole Rutledge and sis are coming to visit and shoot with us. That should be great. We started seeing the first few signs for LA today too which was both great and terrifying. The film's getting done and that feels good.

Amarillo smells like a cow pasture. There's probably worse ways of saying that but I'll refrain. We shot at a camp site tonight. Winks Camp Grounds!! They were so nice that they let us shoot without paying (assuming we didn't spend the night). It was great and the scene was really cool. I love seeing Ian and Seema act together. Seema just looks so naturally uncomfortable when Midway gets crazy... It's Great! We only have a few more things to shoot before Vegas. I'll never feel like I have enough bike riding stuff. No matter what, we'll just have to make it work with what we end up with. We're also getting to shoot a few extra scenes. Some little goodies we think up while we drive. We added a chunk of dialogue to a scene last night and I have a whole new scene about pi that we'll try to squeeze in here sometime soon. Rock.

Ok so I'm not a hundred percent sure that Oklahoma City sucks... but it at least looks like it does. And it smells too. Oh well. We shot a bunch of pretty cool stuff yesterday. We finally finished a scene we shot in Chatanooga. We've been looking for a hotel that had the same layout and we finally found one. We met another filmmaker on the road yesterday as well. Aron Cho is a filmmaker who recently submitted his new film to Sundance. He gave us a copy and we're looking forward to watching it. So, today we need to grab a bunch of bike riding. We grabbed some really awesome stuff yesterday and I think we have a handle on how to shoot it in such a way as to make it rock. Hard. Tori also found out about a deserted ghost town. I'm gonna write a new scene if we can find the town and have Midway and Seema ride into it.

Sorry about the lack of little updates...I couldn't find much wireless and I was mauled by my kitten, Meow Mix. I mean MAULED. I was holding my kitty when another kitty was getting a little tempermental. Mix lost his mind and attacked me and gave me the deepest, largest gash I've ever incurred. My hand swelled up to bigger than I thought possible and a doctor here in St. Louis (Dr. Mauch) had even hinted that I might have to go to the hospital...
Well, Looks like I'm outta the woods... just gotta take four horse pills a day of antibiotic. Now, this didn't stop us from shooting... no sir. We got some goodies. We shot a trippy scene ala Easy Rider's Mardi Gras scene on St. Louis' Metro Link. We got caught and shut down but not before capturing some really awesome stuff. We broke into the St. Louis Arch park (it closes at 11pm) and filmed more stuff for the trippy drug scene... it went great.
Ian started playing a solo guitar version of The Smashing Pumpkin's Tonight Tonight while we filmed and it was awesome. It really makes me want to get the rights and add his version into the film because it would be so perfect for the scene.

I thought we would never get out of Georgia...But that's it... we made it. It's tough trying to find the right balance of driving and shooting. If we stopped to shoot as much as we would like, we'd probably still be in Savannah, but the film's look necessitates that we be in different locations...so we keep driving. We shot our first big scene with Seema, our actress last night and it went great. I think that this film is going to have this really wonderful quirky feel to it that no ones really seen before. I hope we can post some more video soon.

We got off to a late start, leaving Savannah around 3pm. Leaving the city after almost 7 years wasn't quite as difficult as I would have imagined. I've always loved the city but it really felt like my time to go.
We filmed small little bits of Midway riding his bike against the backdrop of middle Georgia. We came across a few interesting little sites that we took good advantage of. Tomorrow we'll begin the real meat and potatoes of the filming as we get into a few more in depth scenes.

It started with a bang!! Actually no... we just shot two scenes yesterday. Now keep in mind, these were basically just run and gun situations...no permits or what not....but hey, that's the whole movie!!!
We shot outside chinese grocery store where Midway tells his girlfriend he's coming to CA to show her how much he loves her.... That went well.
Next we slid over to Quiznos Sub shop to shoot Midway begging for his job back. That was with fellow actor and animator Ajay Karat!! It went like a song. It's cool to shoot scenes in a faux-docu drama way. You get oddly honest moments out of people when they can't think of what to say or how to "be interesting". The movie is definitely going to feel honest and real. I just hope all you folks are interested in that... or would you rather have a sequel to Herbie the Love Bug...:(
We're off to Tennessee somewhere...they don't tell me where we're going. But check our map. Follow our trip. Oh and if you wanna chat on iSight... my AIM screenname is andrewmuto contact me and we can video chat!! Yeah!!

I hope everyone's checked out the new video we posted about our boy Midway. He's almost ready to start his trip!
I think the little 30 second video tease is a good indication of the overall style and feel of the film. Quirky and light and hopefully a lot of fun!
